LADIES GOLF
We have a thriving Ladies’ section with over 90 members. The Ladies’ section is well known as being friendly and welcoming and continues to expand. In the last 18 months we have seen 24 new lady members join the club, many of them new to golf. We are busy encouraging them and newcomers to join in all aspects of the section.
The Ladies’ playing groups schedule is a busy one, with numerous informal and competition events throughout the week. There is much to get involved with.
In addition to our own playing groups and competitions we play friendly matches against other local clubs. These can be organised as either Ladies’ or Mixed events. If you are looking to get involved in something more competitive we also take part in inter-club competitions such as the Pearson Trophy.
LADIES CAPTAIN
CJ Willey
“ As the newly appointed Lady Captain of Tenterden Golf Club for 2025, I am both honoured and excited to represent such a vibrant and welcoming community of golfers. My journey with Tenterden began nine years ago when I moved to Kent from Hong Kong and started looking for a club to join. After visiting several clubs in the area, it was Tenterden that stood out to me for its warmth, friendliness, and sense of community, and I’ve been proud to be a part of it ever since. Tenterden is home to one of the largest Ladies’ sections in Kent, as well as a rapidly growing Mixed section. Our club has a full calendar of events, offering something for every level of golfer. From fun internal competitions to friendly and competitive inter-club and county events such as the Pearson and Tappin trophies, to the newly formed Kent Ladies League—won by Tenterden in 2024—we truly have something for everyone. As Lady Captain, I am committed to building on the club’s rich traditions while fostering an inclusive and welcoming environment for all members, whether they are new to golf or longstanding club members. I am also thrilled to be part of the Women in Golf Charter, which aims to encourage more women and girls to take up the sport. In line with this, we plan to introduce a pathway to membership for women who have never experienced golf before. We offer group coaching sessions every Monday exclusively for ladies of all levels, with our Pro, Mark Peddar from Growing Golf. Our regular competition day is Tuesday, but we also have informal ‘roll-ups’ on Thursday and Saturday, as well as additional competition days on Sundays throughout the year. The sense of camaraderie at Tenterden extends beyond the Ladies’ section, and I’m excited to collaborate with Club Captain Keith Steele and Seniors Captain Steve Bulless to organise friendly games between our sections throughout the summer. I’m also proud to announce that my chosen charity for the year is Tenterden Social Hub, an organisation that supports independent living for the elderly, disabled, and those with dementia in our community. The Club has strong ties to the Hub, and with Keith choosing to support the charity this year as well, I hope we can make a significant difference together. As Lady Captain, my goal is to support and inspire our members through friendly competition, social events, and community engagement. With a focus on fun, sportsmanship, and inclusivity, I hope to encourage more women to get involved in the game, strengthen our club’s bonds, and make 2025 a memorable and successful year for Tenterden Golf Club. I look forward to the journey ahead, and to the experiences and challenges that lie in store for us all.”
